You certainly can do without a rude awakening…

For years now a new attraction has been seen more and more on Europe's beaches. Floating, inflatable playgrounds – so-called water parks – are springing up like mushrooms out of the ground; pardon, out of the water. Under certain circumstances, however, these "water bouncy castles" pose great risks.

NOT EVERYTHING IS REGULATED BY THE PRICE

In the last two years in particular, it has been observed that many authorities, partly out of ignorance, are very careless in issuing licences and permits for this type of attraction, without being aware of the risks. A water park should be treated exactly like a children's playground in the countryside – with all the necessary safety regulations – to minimise the risk of injury to their users. A few premium manufacturers who meet the necessary EU standards and can show corresponding safety certificates (e.g. TÜV certificate) not only had to pay a lot of money for this, but also have years of development work and a strict testing procedure behind them. The accompanying prescribed permanent quality controls are also associated with high accompanying costs. This is a very important point that many investors tend to neglect or are not even aware of in their pure "price decisions".

DIRECTLY IS CHEAPER – CHEAPER IS MORE DANGEROUS

Accidents on water parks are becoming more frequent. It may be that we are still talking about individual cases. But every individual case is one too much. And in most "individual cases", cheap parks are involved. Products from cheap imports also frequently infringe the property rights of renowned manufacturers, as they simply copy their design-protected elements. But, this is only the legal side that lawyers are dealing with. However, the buyers of these products in Europe are also liable to prosecution.

Many certificates are also fake, and some certificates from China are not even valid in Europe. There are EU standards according to which this type of attraction is manufactured. EU standards also regulate the procedure of safety inspections (e.g. TÜV). All these inspections are intended to eliminate possible danger spots on a water park so that a visit remains a wonderful experience, tourists keep their holiday in good memory and do not end up in hospital. To this end, aquafun also has developed its very own safety systems and products, some of which are unique, and integrated them into its park design. In this way, "aquafunparks" are both: attractive and safe.

The internet is opening up more and more opportunities for investors and operators to purchase a water park directly from any factory – and of course sometimes at ridiculous prices. However, such “water bouncy castles“ usually do not even come close to meet the same requirements as those of playgrounds on land. Such a park must be tested according to European safety standards before tourists are allowed to use it. And this is exactly where the much-mentioned dog lies buried:

It is incomprehensible for operators of a non-certified water park why they should buy a more expensive, certified park when a cheap park without a safety certificate is equally approved by the authorities.

Of course, there are also other safety specific points to consider. For example, the underwater fastening or anchoring must be done professionally. On the one hand, so that no one can get caught on the fastening parts when jumping into the water and, on the other hand, so that no element or even the entire park can come loose and suddenly fly over the beach in strong winds and waves. Some of these elements weigh several hundred kilos, which can certainly cause injury to people.

Make sure that something like this cannot happen on your lake or on your beach...

The aquafun quality management monitored by German experts ensures compliance with the highest technical standards in the production of our elements. In addition, only TUV-certified materials and processing operations are used and applied.

In order to ensure the functional safety of the elements, aquafun products have the TUV-certification. This is verified by the standards of EN ISO 25649-1:2017, EN ISO 25649-2:2017 and EN ISO 25649-6:2017. This guarantees that the products comply with EU health and safety standards and meet the essential requirements of the relevant European health, safety and environmental laws.
